Heather graduated from ÐÔÊӽ紫ý with a BSc in Dietetics in 1999.Ìý Her first Dietetic role was working at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, before taking a Nutritionist post in the community to work with the Governments Sure Start initiatives.Ìý In 2003 she moved to a new post in Birmingham where she undertook an MSc Paediatrics at the University of Birmingham while continuing her work as a Nutritionist with the Sure Start Initiatives in Birmingham and a Dietetic clinical role with the Paediatric LearningÌý Disabilities Services.ÌýÌý
She moved to Dundee in 2005 where she work as a Paediatric Dietitian in the specialist areas of Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), Renal and Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. In 2008 she worked full-time with the Paediatric Type 1 Diabetes team and was part of a team involved with a multicentre trial funded by Diabetes UK, advising on nutrition while using Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion (insulin pump).Ìý
In 2009 Heather was appointed as a Clinical Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at RGU splitting her time between lecturing and working as a Community Dietitian with NHS Grampian. In her post with NHS Grampian she was involved in childhood obesity management, infant and maternal nutrition and general dietetic clinics.Ìý In 2016 Heather became a full-time lecturer at RGU.Ìý During this time, she was also a visiting lecturer for the Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics at University of Malta from 2017- 2020 lecturing on Paediatrics.Ìý In 2009 Heather became an Accreditation Assessor for the BDA, a role she currently retains.Ìý
Heather took up a lecturing post for the BSc (Hons) Nutrition course at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý in January 2022.
