Communication and Public Relations (Single Modules)

The single modules available are part of our MSc in Strategic Communication and Public Relations and could be the stepping stone to achieving an MSc if you wanted to progress your studies.
Communication and Public Relations (Single Modules): The course in brief
The public relations and strategic communications sector is rapidly expanding and presents exciting career opportunities in today鈥檚 media saturated society.
Between 2014 and 2018 the number of people working in the industry in the UK grew from 58,000 to 71,000 (Chartered Institute of Public Relations, State of the Profession 2018).

How will I be taught?
Structure, duration, delivery and outcomes
Structure: Module can be taken as a standalone however, on completion of one module, you may also be interested in progressing to the PgCert聽Strategic Communication and Public Relations.
Duration: Modules will run over one Semester.聽
Delivery: Our face-to-face teaching is organized into a small number of full-day teaching blocks at 性视界传媒. This provides a good fit for students who want to study part-time while working, or who live at some distance from 性视界传媒. Further directed learning, access to learning materials and on-going tutor liaison is provided between teaching blocks via 性视界传媒鈥檚 online learning environment.
Outcomes: All modules are worth 20 credits. Credits applicable to the module studied which can provide exemptions for students who decide to continue with their public relations studies at postgraduate level.聽Find out more about more about our MSc聽Strategic Communication and Public Relations
Teaching, learning and assessment
Teaching could comprises a combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials, case studies and projects. Assessment could take the form of essays, reports, exams and presentations.
CPD students also benefit from the full range of books, journals and other resources available in 性视界传媒鈥檚 Learning Resource Centre. Many of these are available online. You can also call on 性视界传媒鈥檚 student support services
Modules
Take single modules or combine them to study for a Postgraduate Certificate.
Standalone modules:
- Media Theory and Campaigning (20 credits)
- Strategic Communication and Digital Practice (20 credits)
- Strategic Internal Communication in a Digitized World (20 credits)
- Public Affairs (20 credits)
- Digital Communication Portfolio (20 credits)
Postgraduate Certificates:
- PgCert Strategic Communication and Public Relations: 60 credits from any 3 of: Media Theory and Campaigning; Strategic Communication and Digital Practice; Strategic Internal Communication in a Digitized World; and Public Affairs.
- PgCert Digital Campaigning and Content Creation: 60 credits from Strategic Communication and Digital Practice and 2 modules on News-Based Media Content Creation and Visual Storytelling for Media Campaigns.

Communication and Public Relations (Single Modules): Entry requirements and application information
Entry requirements
Students will normally possess an Honours degree or equivalent from a relevant subject area (eg Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences). Students without traditional honours degrees may be admitted (subject to interview) if they have other relevant qualifications and/or appropriate work experience.
For students whose first language is not English IELTS 6.5 is required. Students may be subject to an admission interview to judge their qualifications and/or experience; motivation; and ability to learn independently.

September or January depending on choice - Some modules run in Semester One (Sep-Dec) and some in Semester Two (Jan-Apr).
